Hello ,
When things feel challenging, I often find and read this beautiful Rumi poem again to remind me how human we are and this process of life is ALL of it and ALL of it is OK.
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
She may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
~Rumi
Be kind, take care of one another!
With EASE,
~ Lynn 🌈

A new study out of Penn State shows that Americans can expect to take prescription drugs for about half their lives—a little more for women and a little less for men.
Prescription drug use is at an all-time high.

I am not against medications when they are needed, but there are often less invasive and more effective ways to support health (and many of the most commonly prescribed meds treat conditions that respond dramatically to lifestyle).
Prevention is truly the best medicine—starting with food, water, movement, and rest. |

💡Pro Health Tip |

I’ve been getting questions about whether or not it’s good to exercise when stressed.
Here’s what the science shows:
Even though stress hormones spike during vigorous exercise, the result is that cortisol spikes less dramatically to subsequent stressors in life.
Plus, the release of endorphins during exercise makes you feel good and acts as natural stress relief.
Sure, it’s possible to over-exercise. That’s especially a bad idea when already stressed by other things.
But for most people, exercise helps to combat stress.
It’s all about looking at the big picture!
AND always remember this is different for each person! It is best to listen to your body and it's response to exercise. If you have an autoimmune disease or other chronic health challenge sometimes paring back your exercise is what you need.
As yourself these 3 questions in relation to exercise:
1. How do you feel during exercise?
2. How do you feel 3-4 hours after exercise?
3. How do you feel the next day?
If you are energized and feeling well, that is your sweet spot.
If you are fatigued, extra sore (out of proportion to the exercise) or feeling depleted, you may have over done it.
Finding your sweet spot, not too little or too much but just right, as Goldilocks reminds us!
This will also change based at different times of your life.
Keep these questions to support you in finding your sweet spot!

To break the cycle of stress, we need to look at the hormone cortisol. Cortisol follows a 24-hour rhythm, with a healthy pattern looking like this: |
 |
|
☀️ Cortisol peaks within 30 minutes of waking to kickstart the body for the day.
⛅ Levels decline throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
🌙 Cortisol is lowest at midnight to allow for restful sleep.
But if stress or lifestyle disrupt this natural rhythm…
Cortisol can have a flipped pattern, making you feel tired in the morning and wired at night. It can be persistently high, making you anxious or sleepless. Or it can be persistently low, making you fatigued and moody.
Disrupted cortisol is a significant root causes of illness I see in my patients. We always look at the individual and find specific ways to bring it back to balance. |
