Hello ,

First and foremost Let's all wish Hailey a Happy Birthday!!!

Hailey keeps things running smoothly at ISH, is always looking for ways to make the ISH member experience simple, efficient and joy-filled.  I am incredibly grateful for her blend of creativity, design expertise, attention to detail, kindness, ability to organize anything and everything (including my random thoughts and ideas) and do it all with a smile!

If you see or talk to Hailey wish her a Happy Birthday and a Big THANKS!

ISH will be closed this week.  I am headed to Panama for my annual yoga retreat.  I have prioritized 1 week a year for the past many years to meet with a group of women to disconnect, reconnect, rest, move, play and explore.  It is a time to reflect on my past year, plant the seeds to create what's next and ultimately to settle my system so I can continue to show up in my work, relationships and to myself!

This year I am honored to be sharing a workshop on shapeshifting more PEP - Playful Expansive Pleasure πŸ§‘πŸ’š 🌈

I will be sharing more on PEP with y'all when I return!

~ Lynn 🌈

LEARNING

Here’s your weekly drop of health news, tips, and insights

πŸ“° In the News

Research shows that a healthy metabolism depends on gut health.

A study just published in Nature Metabolism found that boosting the intake of a specific prebiotic dietary fiber not only increased beneficial bacteria in the gut microbiome but also correlated with better insulin sensitivity and weight loss.

The fiber that was used in the study was called high-amylose maize, which is a β€œresistant starch,” meaning that it resists digestion but feeds the gut microbiome. Foods that are particularly high in resistant starches include plantains, cooked and cooled potatoes, oats, and other whole grains.

πŸ’‘Pro Health Tip

Whether you’re wanting better digestion, clearer skin, more energy, or a more balanced mood, none of this will happen without a happy gut. So remember these simple everyday micro-habits to support your gut:

  1. πŸ’§Stay hydrated (your digestive juices depend on it!)

  2. 🌈 Eat the rainbow (for antioxidants & fiber)

  3. ⚑️Try ground flax, chia, or hemp seeds (healthy fats to reduce inflammation)

  4. πŸ’©Boost magnesium (particularly if you tend toward constipation)

  5. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈKeep moving (exercise enhances the diversity of the gut microbiome)

πŸ” Did You Know?

Gas and bloating are not the only signs of poor gut health. What happens in your gut affects nearly every other system of your body and can also cause or aggravate:

β–ͺ️ Food Sensitivities

β–ͺ️ Skin Irritations

β–ͺ️ Food Cravings

β–ͺ️ Mood Changes

β–ͺ️ Brain Fog

I’ll be sharing more tips to improve your gut health in my upcoming emails and on Instagram!
