Hello ,

I hope this finds you filling up your cup with all the things that light you up!

Savor this last bit of summer light

The taste of late summer local tomato

Easy evenings

Warm summer strolls

The smell of a summer rain

As we move toward the fall and season change....

What lens are you looking through?

We ALLways have a choice.Β Β I do not mean to minimize challenges but even in the most challenging circumstances there is a choice point (albeit often a millisecond).Β Β The key is becoming aware of that space.Β Β In these moments of subtle yet profound awareness, neurology begins to shift.Β Β

β€œBetween stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.”

Microbiome + Habits = Health

The gut microbiome has been linked to both health and disease. But does that mean the microbiome is solely responsible?Β

Recent research suggests no.Β

A study published earlier this year found that it was a combined effect of changes in the microbiome along with factors like nutrient intake and body mass index that worked together to determine disease riskβ€”evidence that you have power over your health destiny!

Top Functions of the Gut Microbiome

The gut microbiome influences so much more than just your digestion. You also need those trillions of microorganisms for…

Health Tip

3 Ways to Fuel Your Microbiome

Here are 3 everyday activities to keep your gut microbiome healthy:

Eat Microbiome-Friendly Foods

The Mediterranean Diet, fermented foods, fiber-rich foods, and polyphenols (colorful compounds in plant foods) have all been found to benefit the microbiome.Β

Get Regular Exercise

Exercise (as long as it is not training to exhaustion) benefits the diversity of the gut microbiome.

Honor Your Circadian Rhythm

Unnatural disruptions in the sleep-wake cycle or short duration of sleep may alter the gut microbiome and intestinal health.

The benefit of doing these things?

Better digestion, stronger immune system, healthier metabolism, sharper brain function, and overall wellness.

We had fun at ISH Group Visit this month making milk!

🥛✨🫙Homemade Coconut Milk & Almond Milk

Whip up these creamy, delicious dairy-free milks at home in just a few simple steps! Perfect for smoothies, coffee, tea, or soup.Β Β Sub anyplace you use milk!

All you need is a blender, your nut of choice, water, and a nut milk bag!

Coconut Milk:

INGREDIENTS:

*️⃣ 2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut

*️⃣ 3 cups hot water

STEPS:

1️⃣ Blend coconut and hot water for 1-2 minutes until smooth.

2️⃣ Strain through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth.

3️⃣ Squeeze out all the liquid and enjoy! Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

This recipe yields about 3 cups, which is roughly 3-4 servings

Almond Milk:

INGREDIENTS:

*️⃣ 2 cups raw almonds, soaked overnight

*️⃣ 4 cups water

*️⃣ Optional spices (I love adding nutmeg and cinnamon!)

STEPS:

1️⃣ Rinse and drain the soaked almonds.

2️⃣ Blend almonds with water for 1-2 minutes until smooth.

3️⃣ Strain through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth.

4️⃣ Sweeten with vanilla or a touch of honey, if desired. Refrigerate for up to 4 days.

This recipe yields about 4 cups, which is approximately 4-5 servings

You can adjust the amounts based on how much you want to make/what you intend to use your milk for.Β Β Try pumpkin seeds, cashews or macadamia nuts!

Enjoy the fresh taste of homemade goodness! 🌟🥥🥛
