Hello ,
Hormones are chemical messengers that carry signals from one part of the body to the other. We often think of hormones as Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone but there are so many flavors of hormones supporting our magnificent bodies to function.
Think of people on a bus and moving throughout a city, getting on and off at different places, doing different things along the way, carrying different messages and purposes through the day. It truly is what makes the world go round. It reminds me of a song when my girls were young. 🎶"The wheels on the bus go round and round......." 🎶

I have been steeped in hormones and updates the past week, in my 2 week women's hormone course by A4M. I am loving it! And am grateful for my quest to continue to learn. TRUTH in medicine and providing up to date care is my mission.
This course has offered me reflection on my journey in medicine. I graduated PA school in 1997, when, at that point the standard of care was to recommend hormone replacement therapy for ALL peri and post menopausal women (almost without question). Not too long after I started practicing, in July of 2002 preliminary results from a study know as the WHI study came out with data indicating risks for cardiovascular disease for women on HRT. So, without question, we took ALL women off hormones and this narrative became standard of care. Looking back it is shocking to me how quickly this took over without question.
Unfortunately the data analysis of that study was flawed in many ways and it caused undue suffering for menoupausal women 2002 - 2018 (ish) because HRT was not recommended and frowned upon. As it turns out (much longer discussion) the cardiovascular risks were not across all women and now further research is indicating cardiovascular support for most groups. A reminder for personalized approach.
As it does the pendulum swings
We are now critically reviewing the conversation of HRT for women at different stages of life. Asking new questions, reviewing past studies with new eyes and requesting more studies be done to shine the light on the best treatment and support recommendations. And even more importantly personalizing the approach to a woman's genetics, epigenetics, lifestyle and choice.
I share this reflection with you to remind us all that healing, living and thriving is a journey. As I often share with y'all, I am a guide on your journey, we connect and sit together for a bit on a bench, offer support and tools to help you thrive on your journey. There is no one way to do things, there is no right way; staying curious, continuing to learn and seek, being open to pivot and creating JOY every step of the way is my offering.
With EASE and JOY,
~ Lynn 🌈

A fascinating new study tracking 108 Californians between the ages of 25 and 75
found that human aging is not linear! Instead, molecular markers of aging peak at 2 points in time.
Around the age of 44, changes occur that affect the metabolism of lipids, caffeine, and alcohol.
Then around the age of 60, changes occur that affect immune function, kidney function, and the metabolism of carbohydrates.
If you’ve hit one of these markers, maybe you’ve noticed that you can’t drink like you used to or can’t handle sugar as well

💡Pro Health Tip |
Seeds are good dietary sources of lignans (phytoestrogens), essential fatty acids, zinc, magnesium, and vitamin E.
If you aren’t in the habit of eating seeds, here are some easy ways to add in flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, or sesame seeds to your day:
🥤 Add a scoop to your smoothie
🥣 Mix into yogurt
🥗 Toss into salad
🍓 Sprinkle over toast, nut butter, and fresh fruit
