Hello ,

Happy New Year!

The end of 2024 and the start of 2025 have been a whirlwind for me.  I am in Seattle supporting my daughter's move to begin Seattle University.  It has been a FULL trip and I am looking forward to returning to our sleepy little Durango.

This brings me to the "time" conversation.

Reflecting on the quote by Annie Dillard, "How we spend our time is how we spend our lives".  I personally, ended my year more "hurried" than I would like, I started my year in a "hurried" state.  I do not enjoy feeling hurried, it keeps me frazzled, depleted and dysregulated.  This is a state I know well, and it has served me in the past. Through hustling and working hard I have been able to accomplish many of the goals that I set out to do, but what I notice more and more clearly with time, is that I do not want to feel hurried.  I truly believe there is  a BOTH AND; I can BOTH realize the goals I set out to accomplish AND feel ease, settled and regulated in the process.

So, what does that look like?

  • Shift my time lens for time from scarcity to abundance

  • Internal boundary work

  • Nervous system regulation practices - non negotiable

  • Saying No, if it is not a Hell Yes!

  • Breath and pause are available at any  moment

  • Lead with the feeling state, 👉🏼want more ease, joy, settled? marinating in those feeling states to create neuro pathways for more!

Leading with curiosity this year is a theme I will be inviting, especially with the  time conversation.

How about you?

How are you spending your time,  how are these moments adding up to create your life?

With EASE,

~ Lynn 🌈

LEARNING

In the News

Ever heard of stress eating? Stress can make people gravitate toward fatty foods, which is a problem because that makes it harder for the body to recover from the cardiovascular effects of stress (like elevated heart rate and blood pressure).

Now new research from the University of Birmingham shows that a flavanol-rich cocoa drink could offset the negative effects of making poor food choices while stressed.

Cocoa is not the only food rich in flavanols. You can also meet the daily intake by consuming 2 cups of green tea or a combination of tea, berries, apples, or high-quality and minimally processed cocoa.

Pro Health Tip

Want to feel less fried at the end of the day?

Try building intentional rest into your routine. That could look like:

✨ getting up from your desk every hour to stretch

✨ setting reminders to close your eyes for two minutes and breathe

✨ allowing 5 extra minutes on your lunch break to sit in your car and listen to music

The point is to schedule it into your day to send your nervous system the signal that it is safe and can reset.  Set an alarm on your phone, show up for YOU!

Did You Know?

Lots of people are walking around with dysregulated nervous systems. That can look like any of these things:

  • Constantly overwhelmed

  • Easily irritated or on edge

  • Anxious for no reason

  • Feeling “wired but tired”

  • Overly sensitive to noises or smells

  • Muscle tension or pain

  •  Indigestion or other gut troubles

It’s as if your body is in a perpetual state of “fight or flight” driven by the sympathetic nervous system—and has trouble settling into the “rest and digest” state of the parasympathetic.

This is not a diagnosis, and there are no medications to take.

It is merely an underlying pattern that can be helpful to recognize so that you can take proactive steps to support a healthier nervous system response.

Over the next few weeks on Instagram, I’ll be sharing some of the ways I help patients regulate their nervous system—through foods, nutrients, intentional rest, and everyday habits.
