Hello ,

Did you know creativity has massive healing powers?  I mean true physiologic shifts that promote healing.   It is not a supplement, diet or lifestyle hack just pure and simple creative flow.  And if you are reading this thinking "Im not creative" you are not alone, good news is, YES YOU ARE, it just may look a little different than your definition of creativity.  Learn more about the neuroscience of creativity HERE and immune system and general health benefits HERE.

Creativity is the 6th vital sign, a tenant brought to me by my friend and business mentor, Dr Lara Salyer (check out her amazing work HERE)   She is on a mission to transform the way healthcare is offered through lens of creativity.  This is a WIN WIN for BOTH patients and practitioners.  Burnout in healthcare is at an all time high and this effects the health of both practitioner and patient.

And guess what?

Creativity is an antidote to burnout!

A patient recently shared with me their experience of playing in this realm of creativity, by attending weekly sessions at their local art studio and the resulting improvement in health. This is a testament to the direct and indirect impacts to our physiology when engaging in creativity.  Healing happens!

In March at ISH Membership we practiced this tenant at our Member Appreciation Event with an open art studio guided by Art Therapy Student, Madelyn Perera and nourished our bodies with colorful food by local personal chef, Racheal Gallien.

It was colorful, connected and fun!

I invite you to explore creativity in your life.

Every single human can play in the realm of creativity, there are no requirements other than openness to try.

Check out this great article, by James Clear chock full of tips to sprinkle creativity into your day.

I invite you to get messy, stretch your definition of creativity and stay curious!

Be kind, take care of each other,

~Lynn 🌈

ISH Community Connection Newsletter is our offering to the larger community outside of ISH Membership.  It comes out monthy-ish, intended to inspire, create community and offer tips and tools to live your life on purpose.   Thanks for reading, choosing in and staying curious! 🌈

Stress may be a cancer risk

Have you ever known someone who was diagnosed with cancer after a period of intense stress?

A new study found that stress disrupted immune function in women with breast cancerβ€”in ways that favor cancer growth.

Stress is inevitable, but how we manage it matters.

So take a deep breath, move your body, or connect with a friend and play in the realm of creativity!

Stress is not only in your head

There’s a lot of bad advice out there about stress management. Maybe you’ve been told you just need to…

πŸ’₯Shift your mindset!

πŸ’₯Workout harder!

πŸ’₯Power through with coffee!

When the reality is that stress is not just in your head. It’s in your body and nervous system too.

Stress resilience is something that takes time to cultivateβ€”with nourishing foods, breath work, movement, and deep rest.

Check out this great resource for simple breath practices to support you through out your day.

Health Tip

Mushrooms can boost stress resilience

Did you know some mushrooms help your body handle stress?πŸ„

Adaptogenic mushrooms like Reishi, Shiitake, Maitake, and Cordyceps support stress resilience, immune function, and energy.

What is an adaptogen?

Adaptogens are herbal and/or plants believed to modulate the body's stress response by supporting the Hypothalamus Pituitary Adrenal Axis (HPA axis).  They "adapt" to the needs of the body.

Some ways to use adaptogenic mushrooms:

Fresh: add to soups, stir-fries, or creative new recipes!

Capsules: take as a supplement or mix into smoothies.

Powdered: brew as a tea or try mushroom-infused coffee for balanced energy.

As always when trying new things for your health, check in with your healthcare practitioner.

A quote to ponder

All humans are creative: our personal journey is to discover our medium and then let it shine! ✨
