LEARNING

In the News

In a shocking (but unfortunately not surprising) study published in a top medical journal, researchers revealed that many women with chronic symptoms feel gaslit, unsafe, and unheard by their providers.

So often we hear from patients:

“I was dismissed.”

“I wasn’t taken seriously.”

“They told me it was all in my head.”

It’s just wrong.

And it’s especially common in women’s health.

Now a survey of 447 women showed:

  • Over half considered giving up care due to feeling unheard

  • Nearly 40% were made to feel “crazy”

  • 1 in 5 said their symptoms weren’t believed

  • 1 in 6 felt unsafe during a medical encounter

  • Patients saw an average of 5+ providers before getting real help.

At ISH, we want you to know this:

You are not making it up.

Your symptoms are real.

And we are here to support YOU along the way.  A full spectrum approach gives us the tools to explore the root causes.

Pro Health Tip

When you think about it, summer is like a natural whole-body detox.

Summer gets us outside and into the heat, which means more sweating, lymphatic flow, and natural detox activity.

Here’s how to enhance the process:

  • Eat fresh, seasonal foods (especially bitter greens + cruciferous veggies)  The Durango Farmer's Market (or the local market in your town) is a great weekly stop to set you up for eating locally and seasonally.

  • Add citrus, berries, and herbs like cilantro and parsley

  • Move your body daily

  • Stay hydrated

Detox is something your body is naturally programmed to do every day.

All we need to do is support it.

Did You Know?

Every morning, your body is ready and waiting for sunlight ☀️

Not screens.

Because natural and artificial light are not the same

Natural light is full-spectrum, meaning it contains all the colors of the rainbow.🌈

Not only that, but natural light is also dynamic, so the color intensities shift throughout the day.

Morning is abundant in blue light, which stimulates:

  • Morning Cortisol (a natural rise in morning cortisol gives you energy)

  • Dopamine and other brain chemicals for mood and motivation

  • Your internal clock (circadian rhythm) so you sleep better later

Evening light shifts toward oranges and reds.

Red light is more calming and less likely to interfere with melatonin production (your sleep hormone).

So, leveraging light to sync your circadian rhythm can be as simple as stepping outside in the morning and afternoon, dimming screens, and switching to red lightbulbs at night.

This can have a profound effect on your body's ability to experience vitality.  Getting natural light is FREE and available to all of us.

Soon, I will be sharing more about  this and my personal experience with awaking daily for sunrise, minimizing indoor lights and EMFs in my environment.   The shifts have been profound.....stay tuned!
