LEARNING

In the News

A new study from the University of Oxford reveals that your brain reshapes itself in real time in response to sound.

Using a new imaging method, researchers traced how sound frequencies ripple across brain networks like waves.

They found that each rhythm or tone reorganizes neural pathways on the fly—tuning your internal state to match the external environment.

Here’s why this matters:

  • It opens new doors for understanding perception, focus, and even consciousness

  • It highlights music and sound as powerful tools for mental wellness

  • It could reshape how we approach therapy and healing

In functional medicine, we honor the complex ways the body, brain, and nervous system interact with our experiences.

Pro Health Tip

I get so many questions about water quality that I thought I’d answer a few for you here!

1️⃣ Is it better to drink tap water or bottled water?

Filtered tap water is usually the better choice. Bottled water is often just filtered tap anyway, and it comes with plastic waste and less regulation.  Spring water is the best choice as it retains the minerals and is structured (similar to the water made in our cells).

2️⃣ Do I need a whole-house filtration system?

Not necessarily. It’s great if you want to filter both drinking and bathing water, but there is a significant upfront cost of installation.

3️⃣ What’s the best budget-friendly way to start filtering water?

Pitcher filters are an easy, affordable place to start. They won’t catch everything, but they’re a great first step.

4️⃣Is it safe to only drink reverse osmosis water?

Yes, but reverse osmosis removes everything, including beneficial minerals. If you drink RO water regularly, consider adding trace minerals back in or getting minerals through a nutrient-dense diet.

5️⃣ Do I need to filter my shower water too?

If you’re sensitive to chlorine or have dry skin, a shower filter can help. It’s not essential for everyone, but it’s a simple upgrade.

Deeper dive coming....

This fall we are going to dive into water at the cellular level and learn about the best way to truly hydrate, the importance of structured water and more!  Stay tuned.......

Did You Know?

Yes, clean living can support health.

No, we do not need to live in fear.

Not everyone has dangerous mold growing in their home.

Not everyone is sensitive to the ingredients in their shampoo.

Rather than obsessing over every product or ingredient, sometimes the best place to start is as simple as:

  • Swapping plastic water bottles for glass or…

  • Choosing fragrance-free lotion or…

  • Opening the windows for fresh air or…

  • Getting consistent sleep.

It’s true that our bodies are exposed to thousands of chemicals and toxins in our water, air, and food.

But it’s all about tipping the balance in our favor:  Remember the bucket theroy?

Lessen the load of toxins we are up against and boost the body’s natural detox systems.

Invitation:

Think of it as clean living without the obsession.

Prioritize JOY!
