Hello ,
As we move through December, I want to offer a gentle reframe for your health work:
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with me?”.
ask yourself, “What supports my body to thrive?”
This is the heart of salugenesis—shifting from fighting disease to creating health.
Your body is wired for coherence, energy, and repair. Health isn’t something you “earn” by doing everything perfectly; it emerges from the ongoing interplay of your environment, behavior, and biology—the light you get, the food you eat, how you rest, move, connect, and set boundaries.
One of the guiding ideas in our work at ISH is:
“Health is not merely the absence of disease,
but the presence of vitality, coherence, and adaptive capacity.”
This week, you might explore just one simple question:
Examples:
-
Stepping outside for a few minutes of natural light in the morning
-
Drinking water before your first cup of coffee
-
Adding one colorful plant food to your plate
-
Protecting a true wind-down window before bed
-
Saying “no” to one thing so your nervous system gets a “yes”
You don’t have to overhaul everything. Each small, consistent choice is a way of telling your body, “I’m on your side.”
I’m here to help you design an environment—inside and out—that supports your body’s innate drive toward health, not just the absence of symptoms.
In light and ease,
~ Lynn 🌈 |

Beet juice may support healthy blood pressure and your microbiome.
A recent study showed that older adults who drank beet juice daily for just 2 weeks experienced improvements in blood pressure.
What’s behind the benefits?
✔ Beets are rich in nitrate
✔ Nitrate is converted by oral bacteria into nitric oxide
✔ Nitric oxide helps relax blood vessels and improve circulation
They also found that beet juice shifted participants’ oral microbiome in a beneficial way.
In functional medicine, we pay close attention to how systems connect, like the link between your gut, microbiome, and cardiovascular health!

Pro Health Tip |
|
Your cells can’t make energy without healthy mitochondria. And your mitochondria can’t do their job without the right nutrients.
Here are 5 key nutrients that support mitochondrial function:
-
CoQ10: Vital for energy production
-
B Vitamins: Essential co-factors in the energy cycle
-
L-Carnitine: Helps transport fat into mitochondria for fuel
-
Antioxidants: Protect mitochondria from damage
Functional medicine shines at connecting these dots and helping you support energy from the inside out.

Did You Know? |

Burnout isn’t a formal diagnosis, but it’s something many people feel.
For example, it might show up as physical fatigue, brain fog, or emotional apathy.
To support the body in moving back toward vibrant energy, here are 4 things I look at in my practice:
1️⃣ Your nervous system
Chronic stress keeps your body stuck in fight-or-flight, so nervous system regulation is key.
2️⃣ Your nourishment
Magnesium, B vitamins, amino acids, and other nutrients are all needed for energy, so we look to food as fuel.
3️⃣ Your recovery
Sorry to be the one to deliver the news, but you cannot recover from burnout without allowing your body to rest.
4️⃣ Your biochemistry
Adrenal hormones, blood sugar swings, and inflammation all play a role in energy and resilience.
With the right support, your energy can return.
