Hello ,

As we move into Thanksgiving week, I’m holding so much gratitude for our ISH community. Your commitment to showing up for your health—even in small, imperfect, deeply human ways—continues to inspire me.

This season can pull us in so many directions.

Before things get busy or you fall into old patterns of rush and producing, I want to offer a gentle pause:

How are you doing with the intention you set for how you want to end this year?

Are you moving toward more ease?
More joy?
More steadiness?
More space to breathe?

There’s no right answer—just honest awareness.

Let this week be a moment to check in with yourself:

What’s supporting you right now?
What’s feeling heavy?
What small shift would help you reconnect to your intention?

My hope for you is that this holiday brings pockets of quiet, genuine nourishment, and a reminder that you’re allowed to care for your body and nervous system even in the midst of tradition and togetherness.

Wishing you ease, warmth, and gratitude this week.

~ Lynn 🌈

Book recommendation from ISH Member -

Are you in a caregiving roll?

"Caregiving changes us—sometimes in beautiful ways, sometimes in ways that leave quiet marks of guilt, exhaustion, and self-forgetting. Whether you’re still in the role, preparing to step back, or learning to rebuild life after caregiving ends, Freedom from Healing Guilt, Finding Courage, and Choosing Yourself with Compassion meets you where you are."

LEARNING

In the News

Belly fat may age your heart, but hip fat might help protect it.

A new study using AI and body imaging found that visceral belly fat (the kind around your internal organs) was linked to:

  • Inflammation

  • Arterial stiffness

  • Higher risk of heart disease

Interestingly, hip and thigh fat showed protective effects, especially in women.

This is just more confirmation of the functional medicine approach…where we look at how hormones, inflammation, blood sugar, and lifestyle all influence fat distribution AND overall wellness.

Pro Health Tip

Want better energy?

Start with the sun ☀️

Your body’s internal clock (aka circadian rhythm) is regulated by light, and morning sunlight is one of the strongest signals you can give it.

Try this daily ritual:

  • Get 10–15 minutes of natural light within 1 hour of waking

  • Step outside (even if it’s cloudy!)

  • Skip the sunglasses during this time if you can

This morning light exposure helps balance cortisol and sets the tone for steady energy all day.

Did You Know?

If you're waking up exhausted, feeling anxious by evening, and rarely getting restful sleep, your cortisol rhythm could be off.

Cortisol is commonly known as the stress hormone, but it also plays a key role in your daily energy cycle.

Cortisol is meant to be:

☀️ High in the morning to wake you up

🌙 Low at night so you can sleep

But if that rhythm is out of sync, it can disrupt your energy, mood, sleep, hormones, and more.
