UPDATES

Weekly MEMBER ONLY WEEKLY emails are a place to get ISH Member updates, most current happenings, a place to connect and tap in weekly to your health intentions.

I will be taking my PA national recertification test in June.  As a Physician Assistant (PA-C), recertification is required every 10 years, along with completion of 100 continuing medical education (CME) hours every 2 years.

Beyond these national requirements, I continue advanced learning in functional and integrative medicine through additional coursework, conferences, certifications, and clinical training.

As my recertification testing approaches, I’ve been reflecting on how much medicine continues to evolve and how important it is to remain both curious and committed to lifelong learning. The deeper I go into this work, the more I value combining evidence-based medicine, functional medicine, and the lived experience of patients in a thoughtful and grounded way.

It is truly a privilege to continue learning so I can better support the members I care for at ISH.

Upcoming ISH Closures

LEARNING

A single one-hour workout is great — but sitting for the other 23 hours largely offsets the benefit. The body responds well to regular movement cues throughout the day, not just a single session.

Movement snacks are exactly what they sound like: small bites of movement. A 5-minute walk between meetings. A few squats before lunch. A shoulder roll and deep breath after a long call. Marching in place while your coffee brews.

Each micro-movement activates circulation, nudges your lymphatic system, and sends signals to your brain that you are alive, upright, and active. These cues accumulate over time — and the consistency of frequent movement matters more than the intensity of a single session.

Try setting a gentle reminder every 60–90 minutes today to take a 3–5 minute movement break.

Stand up, walk to the kitchen, do a few stretches — whatever feels natural.

Notice how you feel at the end of the day compared to a day without those breaks.
