Hello ,
Over the past several weeks in our group visits, we've been returning to the foundations of health. These foundational lifestyle factors have the greatest impact on how we feel. Healing doesn't always begin with something complicated. More often, it begins by coming back to the basics.
A recent conversation centered on sleep. It's one of those topics that everyone knows is important, yet many of us struggle to consistently prioritize, especially this time of year.
As we head into this holiday weekend, I hope you find a little extra space to slow down. Summer has a way of stretching our days with later sunsets, time with family and friends, travel, and stepping out of our usual routines. While I love this season, I've also noticed how easy it is for sleep to quietly slip down the priority list.
Rather than aiming for the "perfect" sleep routine, I invite you to simply pay attention.
How do you feel after a good night's sleep?
What changes after a few nights of staying up later than usual?
Sometimes the greatest awareness comes not from tracking another metric, but from noticing how our body responds.
If you can, give yourself permission to honor your need for rest this weekend. Sleep isn't something we earn after being productive. It is one of the foundations that allows us to show up with more patience, resilience, and energy for the people and experiences that matter most.
Wishing you a safe, restful, and joy-filled Fourth of July weekend.

It was an honor to be a guest on Episode 115 of The Power of Oxygen 1st Podcast hosted by Dot Rock. The episode, "The Oxygen First Approach to Healing," follows host Dot Rock's personal health journey — from liver failure and autoimmune symptoms to uncovering the deeper roles of mold exposure, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation.
In this episode we discuss functional and integrative medicine perspective to a wide-ranging conversation that covers circadian rhythm, hormonal health, sleep, inflammation, biofilms, and what it really means to heal — not by doing more, but by listening more closely to what the body is already trying to say. |

Foundational Lifestyle Factors
SLEEP
Creating a sleep sanctuary and ritual |
|
Sleep is the one that keeps us up at night (pun intended). Not because it's the most complicated — but because it's the most underestimated. Poor sleep doesn't just leave you tired. It silently degrades every other system: your blood sugar regulation, immune response, hormone balance, mood, metabolism, and cognitive function. |

This week's focus
Pick your one most-neglected category |
|
Scan the eight categories above. Identify the one where you've done the least — not the one that feels hardest, but the one that's most unexplored. Choose a single item from that category and commit to one week of consistent practice. Sleep improvement is cumulative and compounding; the goal isn't a perfect protocol. It's one more brick in the wall.
