Hello ,
Lately, I have been thinking about how easy it is to move through our days without really noticing them. It seems that it is Monday and blink it is Friday! What is happening to the middle of the week?
The passage of time is out of our control, but what is in our control is the practice of presence, slowing a bit to notice the moments that may be racing past.
I can feel the difference when I pause, step outside, take a walk, or simply pay attention to what is around me. I feel more grounded and more like myself.
This is what the Root System of Health means to me. It is not about adding another complicated practice. It is about returning to the simple things that help us feel steady and supported: nature, nourishing food, movement, rest, connection, and moments of pause.
This week, I invite you to notice one simple thing that helps you feel rooted—and make a little more space for it. Scroll down to learn more about the Root System of Health!
With Ease,
~ Lynn 🌈 |

NOURISH YOUR ROOT |
Listen to your body first. Most of us have gotten disconnected from our own hunger signals. We ask a menu or a diet book what we should eat instead of checking in with ourselves. Try this: before your next meal, pause, feel your feet on the floor, and ask your body what it actually wants. Notice how you feel afterward too, somewhere between "still hungry" and "overly full" is where you're aiming. That in-between spot is where grounded eating lives.
Feeling safe matters. When we don't feel secure, our eating patterns shift, sometimes toward restriction, sometimes toward overeating. Neither is a character flaw. It's often a sign that the body is trying to protect itself. If food feels tangled up with safety for you, that's worth gentle attention, maybe a journal, maybe a conversation with someone you trust.
Engage in healthy social eating. Feeling rooted is tied to feeling like you belong somewhere. If family meals or group gatherings feel stressful rather than nourishing, it might be worth asking what patterns you inherited around food and whether they still serve you. You're allowed to build new ones.

PROTEIN |
Animal proteins like eggs, dairy, and meat tend to be the most grounding since they come from creatures that are literally sure footed on the earth. If you're vegetarian, legumes do the same job. A rotation of different protein sources gives you a range of grounding effects, since too much of one type can actually tip into rigidity or feeling stuck.

ROOT VEGETABLES |
Root vegetables grow deep and slow in the dark earth, and eating them mirrors that same steady, anchored quality. Beets, turnips, parsnips, taro, burdock, and rutabaga all count. Their fiber also helps your gut do its own grounding work.
RED COLORED FOODS |
Red-colored foods carry that same rooted energy, plus vitamin C and lycopene to support your skin, gums, and adrenals. Think tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, and cherries.
MINERALS |
Calcium for bone strength, iron for your blood, zinc and copper for protein synthesis. Dark leafy greens, dairy, nuts, grains, and seeds are all solid sources.

Try This week |
Add one root vegetable to a meal you already make regularly, roasted beets in your salad, parsnips in your soup, rutabaga mashed instead of potatoes.
Notice how you feel afterward.
Grounded? Heavy in a good way? That's the Root system doing its job.
